    2. Some ways in this book is when Mr. Yao wouldn't pay for things when they broke. Like when the washing machine broke Mr. Yao wouldn't pay for it even though he had the money and Mia's parents didn't. It was also unfair when Lorenzs' car was stolen and just because Hank is black he was interigated! It also wasn't fair that Hank got fired from his job because the police were talking with his boss. Overall I hink Mr. Yao is the unfairness.

    3. Yeah I agree that Mr.Yao is a jerk. He didn't pay for the washing machine, and he was a jerk about the whole car thing. He also hates black people.

    1. Thanks right they didn't get all of the money promised by Mr. Yao. Mia family had to pay for the washing machine even though they did not break it. They have to live in a tiny room.

      Delete
    2. in later in the book Mr.Yao takes money out of their paychecks.

      Delete
  6. Its bc they came from china so they dont know any good

    ReplyDelete
  7. mr.yao is fooling mia's family because if they drop something and it shatter they have to pay for it and mia can not use the pool.

  9. A good employee just does what it's told. so if the manager tells the employee do this but the manager messes up and tell him the wrong thing it's not the employee.

  12. Mrs.Tang means when they moved to America they got Mia In a school she gets bullied with her friend Lupe so she said in the life isn’t fair.

    ReplyDelete
  13. In the story the immigrant characters experience a lot of difficulties like not having enough money to buy something or having to share a burger with somebody else.geting a white and white sandwich and not being able to get protection. Protection like a security camera are bulletproof glass windows.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think the reason Mia’s mom says “We’re imagrants our life is never fair” is correct we were given proof by uncle Lee’s white on white sandwich and the way how Mia is treated at her school in general.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mia's mom says that were immigrants our lives will never fair that is proven true because people in Mia's school they look at her with disgust, and with Mr.Yao he treats Mia's mom badly and is taking advantage of her.

    ReplyDelete
  16. there low on money and low on food. and they mead up the tooth fairy to feel better and have to borrow money from a loan.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Mrs.Tang means when they moved to America they got Mia In a school she gets bullied with her friend Lupe so she said in the life isn’t fair.

    ReplyDelete
  18. because when lupe said that they are on the poor rollercoster

    ReplyDelete
  19. a good deos what a manager would say so if the manager says a mistake its not there fault

    ReplyDelete
  20. they were judged by there there skin tone and were also judged by where there live and how much wealth they have.

    ReplyDelete
  21. What mia's mom meant was that they did not have a lot of cash so mr yao kinda ruled over them and mr yao is not a kind person

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mr Yao said that mia couldn´t install 25 dollar cameras even though there rich. but some things just arent fair

    ReplyDelete
  23. That Mr.Yao he is not fair he doesn't pay Mia parents right and doesn't get treat right.

    ReplyDelete
  24. they dont got bad jobs

    ReplyDelete
  25. One way that is not fair is that the owner was treating them un fair because um well we do not know why he is doing that to them but it is not fair.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mr. Yao was treating Mia's family unfairly and when they stood up up themselves Mr. Yao said that they were immigrants and that there were plenty of other immigrants that would take their spot.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mr Yao is not paying them fair and he was not listening to Mia about her ideas about the glass bulet proof wall and he never listens to her.

    ReplyDelete
  28. There kinda low on money, and food. Also Mrs. Tang means when they moved to America they got Mia in a school she gets bullied with Lupe, so she might think and said that life isn't fair.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mia and her dad are talking about a penny how much its worth one is 40'000 dollers or more and there is only 40 made some that are 30 dollers if its 2 letters in mistake

    ReplyDelete
  30. because they need to work do hard for thinks.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think it means that immigrants don't get the same privalege.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The reason Mia's mom said we are immigrants was because they were low on food low on their job and they already have a boss that treats them like trash. So this is why I think Mia's mom said that.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Mia states when her family moved to America her parents only had 200 in there pocket also Lupe said they were on a poor roller coaster.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Mia's mom says that a immigrants life is not fair which is proven right when Mr. Yao says "you know how many other immigrants would like to have your job".Also Mia says they came with 200 dollars to America.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Because people are always mean.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hi book is good so far.

    ReplyDelete

  37. That they are treated differently because they are from china? I think

    ReplyDelete
  38. That they are treated differently from the america because they are from china.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Being a immigrant is unfair because you have no rights and you have no defence and also you can be homeless and have no rights and for the immigrant they see things different like places, language, skin and racism and in my opinion i think these things need to change for good and then immigrants won't have to worry.

    ReplyDelete
  40. They have no rights because they come from a different place, skin color and they also have to worry about voting getting a job because it may be hard and a license and also there are people out there that are racism they also speak a diffrent language but we are all the same but people from different countrys and they get judged alot so yea but lie i said we are all the same so we should all get treated the same and this is why i think she said that

    ReplyDelete
  41. One way this is proven to be true is that Mr.yao doesn't give them the money he said he would. The reason this is happening is because their immigrants and Mr.yao know's they are poor and need money so he is taking advantage of them because he knows they will take anything.

    ReplyDelete
  42. People are always mean to them.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Because they came from a different country she doesn't think there going to be treated fairly.

    ReplyDelete
  44. They were talking about they were chinse but were all the same we just speak different language but its dont racist how people talk about her behind her back

    ReplyDelete
  45. Being treated badly by MR.yao, and not having much money.

    ReplyDelete
  46. They are different place and different skin color they speak different language they are sow many people different of skin and this is what i think she said that

    ReplyDelete
  47. Mia and her parents have no money and have to work extra hard. They have a job that does not treat them well.

    ReplyDelete
  48. that they are from china and they came to america and some people are mean because about a skin color and some people already have money and they are struggling with money .

    ReplyDelete
  49. They have no rights because they were mr yao is the mean one.

    ReplyDelete
  50. They had a rough start when they moved to the USA, they had only 200 dollars. They now have a job that Mr. Yao treats them badly. They have to work extra hard for any money they make.

    ReplyDelete
  51. They have no right because that from a different place, skin color, they are treated differently from america because thay are from china.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Mia wears used clothes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. they only have 200 dollers, no job, and bearly know English. They have to work extra hard for their money and Mr. Yao treats them very badly because they are from china.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Mia wears used clothes. So she is treated badly. The family is sad.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Because in life your not always going get your way but Mr.Yao dont have treat them with disrespected just because there immigrants.

    ReplyDelete
  56. a.r yao is not nice to mia's mom and dad and he's judging them couse how thet look decause they are chines

    ReplyDelete
  57. Some ways that the statement was proven from the book were when Mr.Yao said (page 27) "There are ten thousand other immigrants who would take your job in two seconds" meaning that immigrants are poor and are desperate.

    ReplyDelete
  58. i think because people treat immanent different because how they look and how they talk.

    ReplyDelete
  59. because there lives are in denger

    ReplyDelete
  60. there are no rights beacuse they get treated diffrently for there skin colr and the place they were born

    ReplyDelete
  61. juged, racist ppl, poor, bad job, bad conditions, everyone els at school thinks that missing a movie is the worst thing on earth, while here mia is getting manhandled by a drunkard

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think her mom said that because their a immigrant and immigrants are like if there where in a jail sell like they can't drive without a driverslicens they cant do bad thing If they do bad things they will get reported and get sent back to their country "ITS JUST NOT FAIR FOR IMMIGRANTS"

    ReplyDelete
  63. because when you a immigrant you cant get a good job and you cant go to nice restaurants so you have to work in a low paying job to get money.

    ReplyDelete
  64. That mr.Yao and Jason treat Mia and her parents bad and make it even worse when they tell him there Chinese

    ReplyDelete
  65. because there lives are in denger

    ReplyDelete
  66. Jason and Mr.Yao make their life harder when they tell him there chinese

    ReplyDelete
  67. because they cant get a good job or its not fair

    ReplyDelete
  68. They said immigrant lives are not fair because one they have to learn a new language and two they have to work extra hard just to get some money .

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think that Mia's mom said that because she was reffering to how Mr.Yao lied to them about how much money they get and about how he"squeezes" for alot of their money. I aslo think she talking about where they live and how. In a cramppy motel with a bed inside their livingroom.

    ReplyDelete
  70. its true because they moved from china to america with only 200$ in their pockets

    ReplyDelete
  71. it´s true because Mr.Yao makes them work and doesn´t pay them

    ReplyDelete
  72. they have to work really hard

    ReplyDelete
  73. because when Mia had some solutions to make the motel a lot better Mr. Yao just shut her ideas down

    ReplyDelete
  74. they moved from china to america with only $200 dollars in heir poket

    ReplyDelete
  75. they came from china but that dosent mean that they have to get chretid diffrently we are all human

    ReplyDelete
  76. I think Mom is saying is Mr.yao does not like chinesse people

    ReplyDelete
  77. mr yoe lowerd there pay check down to 50 when it was at 150 and they are working all day and night so it is not fair

    ReplyDelete
  78. they said that immigarnt lives are not fair because they are not treated right

    ReplyDelete
  79. that they are from china and they just had 200 dolar when they camed and they poor ,
and mr.yao treats them bad .and they immigrant and they said that ppl immigrants have bad live?

    ReplyDelete
  80. they came to america with so little money and didn´t get the help that they needed to find a stable job. Mr. Yao treats them so unfairly and they can´t do anything about it because they have no other option.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well,I think its proven by how Mr.yao treats them and just how they are being stariotiped

    ReplyDelete
  82. the reason mias mom said that is because when u are from a different place people have there own opinions about u and where u came from. for a example if u came from Africa people will see u as they see on movies or the internet like say i came from africa in most movies africa is poor and has no water and they live in the wild but that is not true africa has water and everything other places have so when u move from some where things are not the same and people will see u how they see how u live on tv so its not gonna be fair.

    ReplyDelete
  83. i think people should have the same respect for everyone

    ReplyDelete
  84. They are not able to do things others can.

    ReplyDelete
  85. If they are immigrants to america people that aren't immigrants they treat immigrants different like they aren't human they don't think they are worth tons and they can do and have the rights non immigrants have but it is not true will are all human beans we all have rights to everything our language or skin color doesn't depend on what we can do or can't .

    ReplyDelete
  86. The reason why the mom said there lives are unfair is because.....there check got lower ever since people came. Then if the drunk man had grabbed Jason he would of made them get protection with there own money. Then also Mr.Yao has been bullying them around. Also then like Mia said it wasnt fair how Lupe has a fancy house a couple of pet and a trampoline. Finally its the ground rules that Mr.Yao said that she couldnt go in the pool one has to stay at the motel.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Immigrants are people that are from another country like (China) And they immigrant (move) to a different country. They are immigrants because they are from China and move to California in the USA. They don't have their place in America because they are not American or from America. Everyone knows their not America.

    ReplyDelete
  88. they are immagraants so dat mena dey cant asFFord a pRprty

    ReplyDelete
  89. I think this statement is true because Mia and her family let immigrants stay in the back of the motel because they immigrated and did not have enough money to pay for a stay in one of the rooms therefore proving that being an immigrant is generally not as fair

    ReplyDelete
  90. they are immagraants so that means the ice ken come en get them.

    ReplyDelete
  91. she means by just cus they are from a different country they don't get treat equaly

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think that is true beause they are imigrant's and they dont have a lot of money and they cant go to a lot of places and they are doing riskey things by litting other imigrant's stay with them because if they get cought they will be in trouble so they can get kicked out so there for it's not really fair bieng a imigrant.

    ReplyDelete
  93. because people can be racist

    ReplyDelete
  94. Mia's mom said that because life is not fair and immigrants sometimes wherever they go they might not know that language.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I think that is true beause they are imigrant's and they dont have a lot of money and they cant go to a lot of places and they are doing riskey things by litting other imigrant's stay with them because if they get cought they will be in trouble so they can get kicked out so there for it's not really fair bieng a imigrant.

    ReplyDelete
  96. they came from china and they barely know anything abt the place she said that bc her dad

    ReplyDelete
  97. the only reason why they are letting the imigrteents stay at the back of the motel is because they dont have money to pay

    ReplyDelete
  98. because some person juged for being immigrated

    ReplyDelete
  99. The statement is true and some reasons are 1. Mr.Yao treats them unfair and makes them pay for everything.

    ReplyDelete
  100. The statement is true and some reasons are 1. Mr.Yao treats them unfair and makes them pay for everything.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Because there from china and they dont know what there throw.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Mia´s mom said we are immigrants and life is never fair but i thnk this statment is true cuz that means they cant afford the stuff they want.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I think this statemate is true because they have benn living in a hotel and they have no money and they dont fell like its fair.

    ReplyDelete
  104. They think its not fair immigrants didnt have money to stay in the room proving that its not fair.

    ReplyDelete
  105. it means for some people that life isn't fair for some people :(

    ReplyDelete
  106. When Mia mom said 'We're immigrants' she meant people lives are fair or there not the same as other people because you never know what someone is going through.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Mia and her family let immigrants stay in the back of the motel because they immigrated and did not have enough money and not enough food to buy, so thats why i think Mai's mom said that.

    ReplyDelete
  108. i think this statement is true because mia and her family let immigrants stay in the back of the motel because they immigrated and did not have enough money to pay for a stay in one of the rooms therefore proving that being an immigrant is generally not as fair

    ReplyDelete
  109. There lives are never fair from where they come from they don´t treat them equal.Like they work and they don´t get that much money.

    ReplyDelete
  110. this question is true because they work so much but don't get the money that they deserve and that being said they can't even afford a place to stay because Mr.yoa does not give them money.

    ReplyDelete
  111. i think its cause they get treated unfairly

    ReplyDelete
  112. its because they are from china

    ReplyDelete
  113. uncol le work at yung restront. so mai keep her job at frient dest so after that mai was trying to work there but she had to write a paper in chines.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Most of the times they are not treated the same and don´t get much money.

    ReplyDelete
  115. they are from china

    ReplyDelete
  116. People are judging other people on the color of their skin and where they are from and it is not fair

    ReplyDelete
  117. The reason the mom says our lives are never fair is because everywhere they go they get treated disrespectfully. On chapter 15 page 67-68 it says why cant we just tell him he has to get us some security cameras or else.Because he knows there is no or else .Its so unfair mom walked over and said,¨ Our lives are never fair because we are immigrants.¨

    ReplyDelete
  118. They say this because life isn't fair and here is an example its not fair that Mia can't have a big house but other people can. I get that stuff costs money but its still n ot fair.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I Think Mr Yao going turn a villain because how he judges someone if a bad guys or not

    ReplyDelete
  120. The reason why mia said life isnt fair is because immigrants get treated differently.

    ReplyDelete
  121. life isn fair said mia

    ReplyDelete
  122. life is not fair.

    ReplyDelete
  123. they didn´t have enough money to buy anything and they didn´t get treated fairly

    ReplyDelete
  124. I think that they are immigrants because they work for a man they live in hes motel and they have no where to live.

    ReplyDelete
  125. She is tread way different then everyone else.she has been bullied and has seen it to because she of her race

    ReplyDelete
  126. Life is not fair for Mia because at school they bully her and Jason is so mean to Mia when Mia never do noting bad to him and Mr. Yao is mean to Mia and her family and Mia life is so hard because she never get a home and it so sad because people will bully her just because she works at the motel and because she is the manager of the motel. Like why will they bully her what if they works at the motel and they were the manager of the motel and just because there are immigrant and that not fair at all.

    ReplyDelete
  127. MR Yao is mean to Mia. he always judges people he's just not fair.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Shes been bulied and Mr Yao is mean to her because shes from china.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Mia is treated differently because she speaks different.

    ReplyDelete
  130. They said in the beginning "Whoah Thats alot of money just for 1 burger!" Its obviuos that they have never been to america because stuff from America doesn't come cheap....

    ReplyDelete
  131. The thing that change in there friendship is that they told each other what they were lieng about and case they new something no one else new they were about to talk about is together and it brought them together

    ReplyDelete
  132. What Lupe was trying to say is its not fare the thing i would change is how rich people act they should be nicer too poor people and think there better then them think there are better then them case they are not even if they have money and are famous and pretty they should not be mean to poor people and its most likely that poor people are nicer then rich case rich people don't have any idea of the strugle poor people go though.

    ReplyDelete
  133. i think she enter so then they can make as much money as Mir.Yao in a moth then not having money and they would treat the people better then him so she really wanted the money for her family and so they don't have to work for hours and hours at the motel and they can have a good life in Amarica.

    ReplyDelete
  134. It doesn't matter if your a immigrant Mia you can still do big thing in your life as a immigrant.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. People from different states immigrants are treat different kinda like slaver and black people sometimes get treat different at stores or a restaurants

      Delete
  135. Because they don't have too much money and you can see in chapter 1 that Mia wanted to get something but her mom couldn't afford it. :(

    ReplyDelete
  136. 1. They got treated badly for coming as an immigrant to america.

    2. They only had 200 hundred dollars and were broke and poor.

    3. Mr.yao treats them like junk and they barley mean something to him

    ReplyDelete
  137. the reason mias mom said that is because when u are from a different place people have there own opinions about u and where u came from. for a example if u came from Africa people will see u as they see on movies or the internet like say i came from africa in most movies africa is poor and has no water and they live in the wild but that is not true africa has water and everything other places have so when u move from some where things are not the same and people will see u how they see how u live on tv so its not gonna be fair.

    ReplyDelete
  138. In the text Mr,yao lowerd there payment so that they wouldn't get s much moment as they wanted and after mr yao had them sighn it to lay out rules.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I went back in the book and found , Mr Yao treats them bad, he doesn't wanna buy security cameras for the motel, She only had little bit of money for only one burger, that shows that they had never been to america , stuff in america aren't cheap, and her parents told her America would be an amazing place, so far she was living in her car with the ac not working, and them not having enough money

    ReplyDelete
  140. I thin what mia mom had meant when she said their immigrants and there lives are never fair,I think she meant because of there skin color they mever get treated fairly because there Chinese people and they dont know everything but that didn't mia from doing everything that she is doing now.Mia mom isn't really supporting her from trying learn English just because she is from china and she think that math is the only thing mia should be learing even tho she is very start at math:)

    ReplyDelete
  141. i think Mia had someone as a emploe

    ReplyDelete
  142. no they do no get tret bgere cose they

    ReplyDelete
  143. just becuase you are immigrant does not mean you can not do thing

    ReplyDelete
  144. What i think why Mia mom say that s that is Mr.Yao is being rloed to Mia and her parents like mr Yao did not like Mia idel.

    ReplyDelete
  145. We are immigrants," mom said. "Our lives are never fair. My dad nodded. "We have to try," he said." We have to try and accept our fate."

    ReplyDelete
  146. it doesn't matter if your a immigrant Mia you can do big thing in your life as a immigrant

    ReplyDelete
  147. the matter if she a immigrant mia can do big things.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I think that in some ways Mia's Mom's statement is true. This is proven because people judge Mia at school because she is Chinese. Then Mr. Yao treats them poorly because there immigrants and he knows because of that they can't get the best job.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Some of the ways that statement is proven right is the Tangs are from China and they live in South California. Also when they fisrt went to Amrica they couldnt speak english.

    ReplyDelete
  150. their treated poorly.

    ReplyDelete

  151. Mia and her dad are talking about a penny how much its worth one is 40'000 dollers or more and there is only 40 made some that are 30 dollers if its 2 letters in mistake

    ReplyDelete
  152. I think this statement is true becUASE HOW Jason was born in the U.S.A and Mia wasnt and in farther cahpters you can see shes being made fun of by Jason and his friends. And how the hide immmigrants, Another reason is becuase up ahead in the boook hank stops paying for the motel and the money comes out of Mias familya paycheck.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I think this statement is true becUASE HOW Jason was born in the U.S.A and Mia wasnt and in farther cahpters you can see shes being made fun of by Jason and his friends. ReplyDelete
  154. Mr. yao cheets them out of money

    ReplyDelete
  155. Its hard being an immigrant and trying to get money to live a normal life like other's,it's just Mia is working very hard to get that money for her mom and dad.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Because just like any race other than caucasian will get judged because of there skin color or the way they look (take the chinaeas eye stereotype for example) and i know everyone has it hard with looks because no one is perfect, but POC have it worse

    ReplyDelete
  157. I thing that her mom thing that they are on the poor rollcoster. And made Mia thing that they are n the poor rollcoster to. and I thing that that they are in the middle of middle the rollcoster.
