Mia writes a lot of letters to different people. Why does she write to each person? What does she accomplish with each letter?

Overall Message
What do you think is the overall message of the book?
I really don't get what the question asks us.
ReplyDeleteMe too
Deleteso it can give people more facts.
DeleteShe writes letters, but I don't think she sends them. She writes because that's how she... um, unwinds. She begins to feel a bit better when she writes them.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense
DeleteOkay That makes sense
DeleteWell she at least sends a couple of them.
DeleteShe writes letters to a lot of people because the wants to say thank you or she is just trying to tell someone something with out saying to face-to-face. Or she is just practicing her writing so she can prove to her mom that she is NOT a bike in English. I also think she might just be writing for fun so she can get better so she can possibly enter the essay contest.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you think.
Deleteto thing about them
ReplyDeleteMaybe she wants to get a new job with her family and not have to deal with Mr. Yao.
ReplyDeleteshe wrights thank u cards and things about the thunderbird
ReplyDeleteMia wrote a lot of letters because the people that stayed last night gave a tip so Mia is sending them a letter to say thank you
ReplyDeleteSo they can uderstand how she feels
ReplyDeletei agree with you
DeleteThen why does she not send most of them?
DeleteMaybe they are the drafts or unfinished letters.
Deleteshe writes those letters becuase thats was she would like to say to them but she donsnt want to be rude
ReplyDeletei agree with you
Deleteshhe wrights the letters to find the thunder bird
ReplyDeleteShe writes letters to all the people to thank them about the tips
ReplyDeleteMia wrote a letter to some mean girls in school and stayed up late to make a thank you note to the man who left 8$ instead of 5$
ReplyDeleteshe writes letters to the people that checked out that night to see who possibly stole the tunderbird car
ReplyDeleteShe writes those letter because the people gaved her $8 for tips and she probably wanted more people to give her tips and for the people to tell other people about there motel.
ReplyDeleteShe writes letters to all the people to thank them about the tips
ReplyDeleteshe wants also did that for more people to give her tips to win the contest for the motel.
ReplyDelete.
Mia wrote a letter to thank people and to wright how she feels about other people talking about her .
ReplyDeleteSO the costumers feel when she gets tips
ReplyDeletemia writes to diffrent people because she likes to write. she acomplishes goodness to evety person she writes to
ReplyDeleteShe wants to prove to others she can be good at English, too. While her mother doesn't understand her, she writes letters and maybe will show her that she can be good at it, too. If not, practice makes perfect!
ReplyDeleteMia writes to different people because she wants to help those who need help like uncle Zhang. He lost his id and passport I know this because in the text on page 200 and 201 it says ¨an american guy said their passports will be safer with him.¨Then Mia stayed up late at night making uncle Zhang's letter. It turns out it went super well that all the workers got their passports and id´s back.
ReplyDeleteMia writes those letters (1) to make herself feel better by writing and getting the things she needs to let out. I know this because in chapter 31 she writes a letter to the "mean girls" and she doesn't send it to them, so it was just for her satifaction and letting her feelings out. (2) She also writes them to hopefully change minds to whose she's writing the letters to. I know this because in chapter 40 Mia writes Lupe a letter to hopefully change her mind about how Mia really felt. (3) Mia writes them to pratice the American Way of writing and she wants to prove her mom wrong about writing in the American kid's language, because in chapter 20 Mia's mom says "You just can't be as good as the white kids in their language, honey." Mia accomplishes different things with each letter. For example: In chapter 31 again she accomplishes getting her feelings out. Another example: Chapter 44 Mia writes a letter about Hank being a great security guard so she accomplished recomending Hank to the job of a security guard.
ReplyDeleteGood job!
DeleteI think Mia writes letters to different people to accomplish many different things. For example,on page 168 chapter 39 Mia wrote a letter to Jason Yao but it wasn't a very nice letter. On page 181 chapter 41 Mia wrote a letter thanking the doctor that persuaded his boss into changing his mind about the hospital bill. That is a thank you letter. On page 171 chapter 40 Mia wrote apologetic letter to Lupe. That shows that she accomplishes different goals with writing different letters.
ReplyDeleteMia writes the letters to people to thank them. In the text on page 127 thanking Mr.
ReplyDeleteand Mrs. Miller for the $8 tips. She accomplish good things when she write the letters like on page 190 when Hank was trying to get a job without a reference letter and she decides to change Hank letter and writes that he worked at the Calivista Motel and that she is the Manager of the Calivista Motel and by doing that
Hank got hired as a security guard at the mall.
Mia writes different letters to different people because she wants to help them with their problem or to thank them.Mia's accomplishment with every letter was to get better in English writing .She used Miss.T's thesaurus and dictionary to correct her mistakes in her letters.Chapter 28 pg 126 and 127.
ReplyDeleteShe writes to each person so that she can tell them in a kind way what she needs and wants. She accomplishes a lot some times when she writes with a different identity she get's better effects.
ReplyDeleteMaybe shes trying to get a new job.
ReplyDeleteyes she need a new job.
Deleteyes she does work at a bad job
DeleteShe tries to calm herself down.
ReplyDeleteShe tries to calm and get stuff off her mind
ReplyDeleteshe is brave
ReplyDeleteI think Mia writes letters to each person because if you send a letter to one person they listen because it is exactly to them. When you send it to a lot of people they think that it doesn't matter because there is a lot of people who will do it. But when she sends a letter to tell people they should not have a bad people list it worked because she watched them while they read the letter and convinced them.
ReplyDeleteMia accomplishes a lot with letters in the book when she writes a reference letter for Hank to get a job the reference letter gets him a job. Or when she sends out letters to tell stores not to have a list of bad people they stop having a list of bad people.
Its a good book lots of crazy things happening like hank getting taken by the police.
ReplyDeleteShe gets better at writing every time and that helps because when she is older she wants to be a writer
ReplyDeleteShe likes to get things off her mind.
ReplyDeleteShe encourages everyone with each letter. And it makes people happy.
ReplyDeletei think that she does that because when the people read them and she will have letters fulling up her box and she might want friends
ReplyDeleteMia gets better at writing when she writes each letter and she feels good and sometimes when she writes letters to certain people they are for a resson and she is getting better and better each letter she writes.
ReplyDeleteshe writes to the girls in the stall but does not end up showing them it.
ReplyDeleteI think she writes to each person to get better in her english and writing.
ReplyDeleteShe writes to get better at English and at writing.
ReplyDeleteThe reason Mia wants to write letters is because wants to learn more English so she can get better at it.
ReplyDeleteShe writes to get better at English and at writing.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she writes the letter to get better with English and to do what her mother said she can't do.
ReplyDeleteto get a better at writeing
ReplyDeleteshe rights letters to people when see gets mad to show how she feels.
ReplyDeletemia is so intelegent and she knowes whats shes doing
ReplyDeleteMia makes letters for people to make there lives better and help the out, like hank he needed a new job because he had recently lost his job and Mia wrote a letter so hank could be a body guard and he became a body guard.

ReplyDeleteShe thanks all of the people that invested thanks for the help
ReplyDeletebecause they all helped her
ReplyDeletei think mia is more confedent that she can do it
ReplyDeleteI think she writes because she has a lot to say and she is so good with words. I think she accomplishes getting out her opinion and she is able to write what she feels.
ReplyDeletecause she wants everybody to fell special
ReplyDeleteI think she rights each person so it will be like personaly about them or any situation that mainly included them.
ReplyDeletesome of the letters she writes but don't sent them she just writes them but some of them she dose send like those of the motel of 300$ but she didint win it .
ReplyDeletenow she won mr yao motel!
Mia to invest money so she can buy the motel
ReplyDeleteshe wants to meet them
ReplyDeleteShe wanted them wanted to get her own motel she entered the contest.
ReplyDeletewell Mia writes letters because she wants to write letters to people because so she can be kind to them to write a nice letter to everybody because its her first day of school and write the letter to Jason to be kind to him because he getting bullied so Mia write the letters to make him feel better that why she writes the letter.
ReplyDeleteshe manages to pay for the motel
ReplyDeleteShe accomplishes her Tenses.
ReplyDeleteShe writes letters to people but she don't send them because its her practice for the essay competition! But who knows maybe in the future she'll send them!
ReplyDeleteMia wrote letters because she wanted to express how she felt through writing notes to people which also helps her improve her writing/english.
ReplyDeleteShe writes a thank-you letter to the Millers for the 8 dollar tip, and a letter to the mean girls who were bullying her. She also may be writing them to get better at her English and grammar so she can enter the contest and win.
ReplyDeleteWhen she writes hr letters she helps herself and sometimes her family. She also sometimes writes mean letters that helps her calm down. This also helps her writing skills.
ReplyDeleteMia found that writing letters was a way that she could both express her feelings and also help other people. She wrote a letter for Hank when he needed a reference to find a new job, describing what a hard worker he is. This helped him get a job as security guard. She wrote a letter to the Doctor that treated her mother to thank him for his kindness and describe how to renew her faith in people. She wrote a letter to help a friend get back his documents so he could look for better employment. Mia used her letter writing skills to apply for a chance to win a hotel for her family in a sweepstakes.
ReplyDeleteWhen she was writing the letters to the people who lost the Motel contest she asked if they wanted to help donate to help buy the Calivista.
ReplyDeleteWhen she writes letters that are mean it help releave her anger and stres. But when she wrote that later to the nice lady who tipped her 8 dollars she actyually sent it ouyt
ReplyDeleteBecause writing makes her calm down on a bad day.
ReplyDeletehappy,maybe stong,brave in ac
ReplyDeleteman idk
ReplyDeleteShe gets her friend Lupe back.
ReplyDeleteI think that Mia does this to let out stress kind of like how people let out stress by drawing, and to express her feelings too.
ReplyDeleteWhen writing, it's easier to tell how you feel. So, that's why some people have dairies.😃
